![]() Just trial and error puts the desired multiplier closer to 39.3 with meters as primary and architectural as alternate, but I cannot be sure this is the correct value I should be using. I don't want to compromise and use a decimal value for the alternate units, and our company standards is to use the metric system whenever possible so that will remain as the primary units. The distributary channel has fine-grained sediments, a larger scale, and relatively complex architectural units, which are reflected in the following three ways. This confirms the decimal conversions work fine as expected, but the architectural units are doing something funky. The conversion from architectural to engineering is a factor of 12' to 1' so you have to multiply the denominator by 12. IOW, dont' follow the dimensional format. Do not enter a hyphen between feet and inches. To add inches to the feet, enter the number immediately following the single quote. ![]() The top DIM is also paper space but the alt units changed to decimal and x3.28 multiplier. To enter feet and inches, key in the number for feet followed by a single quote. The middle DIM is same distance but in paper space so that's correctly 140 millimeters (given the layout size), but also a 1 multiplier. You can see from my screenshot that a DIM taken from the model = 20m, but with alt unit multiplier of 1. Something strange I can't figure out is happening where the standard metric conversion multipliers (I've tried 3.28, 0.03937, 25.4, etc) don't seem to apply to the architectural standard as opposed to another decimal value. You can enter decimal feet for distances in the Architectural unit style. Convert to Engineering Scale: Type 1/12, and press Enter.Convert to Architectural Scale: Type 12, and press Enter. ![]() How to draw point, line, polyline, arc, hatch, make a block, insert blocks, nesting blocks. Note that this doesn’t affect the accuracy of the actual drawing dimensions. 8.8K views 9 years ago Presenting BabaCAD 1.3 main features in this video. While my model space drawing is in meters (metric units), I want to apply a DIM style of alternate units using the architectural format. For example, if your units are set for a maximum of two digits of decimals and you give a fractional value of 5/32, AutoCAD rounds this value to 3/16. ![]()
